UAE Team Emirates took total command at the front of the peloton, intent on whittling down the gap to set up their Slovenian leader. As the road tilted upwards toward Leysin, the breakaway fractured, dropping riders like Jakob Söderqvist as the peloton closed to within 30 seconds.
