A 53-year run of tournaments at the course ended in 2016, but the tour is back in 2026 for the Cadillac Championship this weekend at the club's Blue Monster Course. According to The Palm Beach Post , it "marks the first PGA Tour event to be held at one of Trump's properties since he began his political career. " There are reported plans for the President to attend on Sunday, although rain delayed the start of action.
The PGA Tour's official website notes that Doral is one of nine current venues that have had at least 50 years on the tour's calendar. Why did PGA Tour come back to Doral after leaving? They left in part because of sponsorship, although it did overlap with the beginning of Trump's first run for President.
Cadillac's title sponsor deal had expired after 2015, and the PGA Tour's contract with the course included an opt-out if they weren't able to find a title sponsor, according to The Palm Beach Post . The Doral event was moved to Mexico City. This season's PGA Tour schedule was released last August, and it included Doral.
