Kansas City Chiefs running back Emmett Johnson spoke with reporters at Saturday's press conference during this weekend's rookie minicamp. He discussed his abilities as both a runner out of the backfield and a capable receiver, as well as his adjustment to the Chiefs' playbook. "I love it, man.
Especially, like I said, I can receive really well, and I know that can help the offense," said Johnson, "Just so having the ability to not just run the ball, but also catch and affect that game that way, it's something that I look forward to. " In four seasons at Nebraska, Johnson appeared in 41 games, tallying 2,460 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 458 attempts. He also had 92 receptions for 702 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
"I feel great. It's obviously a lot of plays that happen really quickly, but I do a great job of studying, and at the end of the day, I'm playing in the NFL. " said Johnson, "I have no excuse for not knowing my assignment on the football field, so I take big pride in understanding what I have to do on the field to be successful.
" He earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and Academic All-Big Ten from 2023 to 2025. This article originally appeared on Chiefs Wire: Chiefs RB Emmett Johnson comments on comfort level as a receiver
