Germany's 2014 World Cup winner Lukas Podolski, 40, is expecting to retire after lifting the Polish Cup for the first time with Górnik Zabrze. They beat Raków Częstochowa 2-0 in front of 50,000 spectators in Warsaw on Saturday. "The plan is to end my career.
But maybe there will still be a surprise? I am leaving the door open," Poland-born Podolski told reporters. "Sometimes my family came second and I want to change course a bit.
" Podolski was not brought on until the 89th minute of the final. The former Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Cologne player was then fouled by Jonatan Braut Brunes, the cousin of Erling Haaland. The Norwegian was shown a red card.
It was Zabrze's first Cup win in 54 years.
