EMPORIA (KSNT) – A series sweep to end the regular season. Emporia State baseball (36-16, 23-15 MIAA) grabbed a 2-1 win over the Northeastern State Riverhawks Saturday afternoon. The game was scoreless through seven, before Northeastern’s Chance Pair singled to right center to drive in a run, taking a late 1-0 lead.

Runners were at second and first for Noah Steele who singled right. Logan Myers scored the Hornets first run of the day to tie the game at 1-1. Brady Unrein followed up with a perfectly placed bunt as Sammy Padilla slides home to score the go-ahead run.

ESU leads 2-1. “They’re [Steele and Unrein] both great kids, they work hard every single day,” Emporia State baseball head coach John Martin told 27 Sports. “You want want those guys up when it matters.
