Conrad Shahan’s no-hitter powers Carthage to 4-1 win over Van in decisive Game 3

GRAND SALINE, Texas (KETK) — Carthage pitcher Conrad Shahan was at his best when his best was needed on Saturday, as the Bulldogs righty tossed a no-hitter to propel Carthage to a 4-1 win over Van in game three of the two teams’ 4A-D2 bi-district playoff series. After Carthage surrendered a run in the top of the first, the Bulldogs locked back in to score four runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by JoJo Mitchell’s two-RBI double that scored Cade Ross and Tate Pope to put the ‘Dogs up 3-1. Mitchell scored on a Vandals error to make it 4-1 Carthage and that would be the final score.
