A Dallas Cowboys writer can envision an ex-Washington Commanders linebacker landing with the franchise this offseason.

Although the NFL Draft is over, it doesn’t mean the Dallas Cowboys are finished adding experienced veterans/up-and-coming young players to their roster.

Blogging the Boys’ Brandon Loree recently identified a former Washington Commanders starting defender as a perfect match for the NFC franchise. “I don’t know why, but I can’t get how Brian Schottenheimer talks about Bobby Wagner out of my head,” Loree wrote on X/Twitter Thursday. “It’s a couple months later, but Dallas + Wagner remain a perfect match for both sides.

” Wagner has been a respectful NFL linebacker for over a decade. The Utah State product’s elite upper-body strength and technical defensive approach have allowed him to record 2,000 career tackles ( Seattle Seahawks , Los Angeles Rams , and Commanders). 162 of the tackles came with the Commanders last season, showing that even at age 35, Wagner can wrap up with the best of them.

Wagner also recorded 4. 5 sacks in Year 14, further proving his worth as an older LB. Considering Wagner, who inked a one-year deal with Washington last summer, remains unsigned this offseason, the Cowboys should be interested in snagging him on the free agent market.
