One of the top college quarterbacks may have his college career cut short due to a gambling scandal. Could he jump to the NFL?

It's unlikely you're going to see Brendan Sorsby playing college football next season. But there's a slim chance he might be playing in the NFL. Sorsby, who was one of the top transfer portal prospects this offseason at quarterback before committing to 2025 Big 12 Champion and College Football Playoff qualifier Texas Tech, is now facing a likely end to his NCAA career after the news broke earlier this season he will be leaving the program and entering rehab for a gambling addiction which involved him placing multiple bets on NCAA games as a student-athlete, including games in which his team played.

Sorsby has retained lawyer Jeffrey Kessler to attempt to regain NCAA eligibility, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Pete Thamel. But the same report indicates that if their attempts fail, Sorsby could then potentially declare the NFL supplemental draft. The deadline to declare falls on June 30th.

The last player to make it to the league via the supplemental draft was Jalen Thompson in 2019. So it's not exactly an easy path to the league.
