Monaco went behind early in the second half to a goal from Jessy Deminguet but managed to level through Folarin Balogun just after the hour mark.

Fati then sealed the winner in stoppage time after coming off the bench. The Barcelona loanee was picked out in the penalty area, took a touch and then rifled home a low shot. His goal sealed all three points for Monaco and also relegated Metz to Ligue 2 with two games of the season still to play.

As for Fati, it’s his 10th Ligue 1 goal of the season and his 11th in all competitions for Monaco. That’s Fati’s best goalscoring return in his career so far, his previous best was 10 goals for Barcelona in the 2022-23 campaign. Fati is heading towards the end of his season-long loan at Monaco, with speculation claiming the club will activate the buy option in his contract.

The forward’s father has also said his son is happy at the club and wants to stay.
