Where is FSU in USA TODAY Sports' rankings after spring practice?
USA TODAY Sports analyst Paul Myerberg has released his ranking of all 138 teams in football after 2026's spring ball.
When you finish with a 5-7 record and have the bounce-back potential to be a top 25 team, odds are you're a blue blood that had an off year, and that is exactly the case for the Florida State Seminoles . We saw FSU go 2-10 and still manage a top-ten ranking in the AP poll in 2025, but of course, it did not end well. Even after spring practice, FSU has positioned itself to be one of the better programs in the country, as Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports has published his ranking of all 138 FBS teams after spring practice.
Florida State debuted on that poll at No. 29 in the country. Surrounding them are the No.
28 Washington Huskies , who finished 9-4 in 2025, and the No. 30 Virginia Cavaliers, who finished 11-3. They are the only team with a 2025 losing record to be ranked within the top 30 teams nationally, which just shows how high the brand recognition is for Florida State and how much potential this team has.
Right now, they're the fourth-best ACC team, behind the Miami Hurricanes, SMU Mustangs, and Clemson Tigers . It should be noted that in Myerberg's way-too-early 2026 ranking from before spring practice, FSU was at No. 22 in the country.
