Espanyol dealt injury setback on eve of Real Madrid showdown Espanyol have on Saturday been hit with a potentially costly blow on the personnel front. This comes amid confirmation of Cyril Ngonge being forced to sit out training alongside the rest of the club’s squad this afternoon. As per a report from Mundo Deportivo , citing Espanyol themselves, the versatile midfielder has suffered ‘a contusion in his left knee’.
Espanyol are currently in the thick of preparations for a La Liga showdown with heavyweights Real Madrid on Sunday evening. The Catalans, though, could well be forced to make do without the services of the aforementioned Ngonge for the matchup. Since making the move to the RCDE Stadium from Serie A outfit Torino late in the winter transfer window, Ngonge has played a prominent role, racking up nine appearances in the colours of Espanyol.
