German star Leon Draisaitl will miss the men's ice hockey world championships in Switzerland later this month. "He hasn't been 100% fit lately.

He needs the break, health comes first," German Ice Hockey Federation sporting director Christian Kรผnast told broadcaster Magentasport. Draisaitl pulled out of the season after his Edmonton Oilers were eliminated from the NHL play-offs due to a knee injury. Germany, however, can have hopes that defenceman Moritz Seider and goaltender Philipp Grubauer will be available for the tournament despite recent injuries.
The ice hockey world championships is on May 15-31.
