The Mets and catcher Luis Torrens have reportedly agreed to a two-year contract extension, keeping him in Queens through the 2028 season.

The Metsย  and catcher Luis Torrens have agreed to a two-year contract extension, keeping him in Queens through the 2028 season, according to multiple reports. Torrens was scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the 2026 season. He will now make $11.

5 million for the 2027 and 2028 seasons ($5. 75 million per season), The Athletic's Will Sammon reports. He will also receive $2 million in incentives, per Jon Heyman .

Torrens, who turned 30 on Saturday, has been a solid backup for New York over the past three seasons since they acquired him from the Yankeesย  in exchange for cash considerations in May of 2024. This season, Torrens is hitting . 200 with two doubles and four RBI over 30 at-bats across 13 games.

Defensively, he's caught four runners stealing and has allowed three stolen bases. Over three years and 152 games with the Mets, he owns a . 225 batting average with eight home runs, 24 doubles, and one triple with 48 RBI.
