One of WWE’s most decorated and legendary tag-teams, The New Day, has reportedly parted ways with the company. In a shocking development, Fightful and Bodyslam reported Saturday that New Day's Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods “mutually decided” to end their 16-year run as a group and exit WWE. The news comes less than 24 hours after both wrestlers were added to WWE’s official “Alumni” page, a typical precursor for talent leaving the company.

Additionally, MFT faction members JC Mateo and Tonga Loa have reportedly been released from the WWE as part of the company’s post-WrestleMania roster reset. Kingston’s time on the WWE main roster dates back to 2008, while Woods’ main-roster debut came in 2013. Together, with now-retired third member Big E, they formed The New Day in 2014 and embarked on the most successful tag-team run in modern WWE history, securing a record 13 tag-team championship reigns, including a record 483-day reign as Raw Tag Team Champions.

Kingston and Big E also won WWE Championships as solo acts, driven in part by the group’s incredible success and rabid fan base. After a 2022 injury forced Big E to retire from in-ring competition, Kingston and Woods continued on as a duo under the New Day name, ultimately turning heel in a stunning scene during the group’s 10-year anniversary celebration in late 2024.
