Washington softball loses seventh straight 5-4 at Ohio State
A 5-run third inning doomed the Washington Huskies in a 5-4 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes, their seventh straight.
One big inning was all it took in Columbus for the Washington Huskies to drop their seventh straight game, 5-4 at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Starter Morgan Reimer was unable to make it out of the third inning after letting up 5 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks with 2 strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings, which included a pair of bases-loaded walks, a two-run double from second baseman Sami Bewick, and an RBI single from first baseman Kiki Estrada. Reimer was charged with the loss and fell to 22-7 on the year after Rylee Rehbein went the rest of the way, allowing just a hit and a walk with 5 strikeouts over the next 3 2/3 innings.

However, after stealing second, Jadyn Glab was unable to drive pinch runner Jing Gardner in in Alvarez's place, after the standout catcher was caught trying to take second base.
Although the Huskies notched 8 hits and pushed across 4 runs against starter Lauren Boutte, who worked all 7 innings and finished her day with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts, they weren't able to muster any consistent threats against her as she improved to 7-5 on the year. With the loss, Washington dropped to 34-16 on the year and 15-7 in Big Ten play. Coach Heather Tarr's team will look to bounce back on Saturday at 11:00 a.
