Prep sports recap for May 1, 2026
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Caleb Hornbrook had three hits and knocked in a pair of runs at U-High defeated Morton, 4-1, at Westwood Park on Friday. Hornbrook’s three singles helped support the pitching of Cade Cunningham and Parker Roop who combined to hold Morton to a run on three hits.
Hornbrook also stole a base and scored a run. The Pioneers (21-3) scored two runs in the third and two more in the fifth. Jude Parnham delivered an RBI single to give Morton (17-6) its only run of the contest in the third inning.
Other baseball winners on Friday included Normal Community, Washington, Dunlap, Limestone, Eureka and Deer Creek-Mackinaw. Dee-Mack’s Parker Eggenberger connected on an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Chiefs beat Tri-Valley, 4-3, at Dozer Park. Normal Community, Washington, Olympia and Dee-Mack were among the softball winners.
