SYRACUSE, N. Y. (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse Crunch has been pushed to the brink of elimination, falling in overtime to Cleveland 4-3 on Friday night in Game 3 at the Upstate Medical University Arena.
The Crunch now trails the best-of-five series two games to one. Syracuse struck first on a goal from Spencer Kersten midway through the first period. Cleveland answered, taking a 2-1 lead in the second thanks to goals from Riley Bezeau and Guillaume Richard.
The Crunch pulled even late in the second period, as Jakob Pelletier found Nick Abruzzese in front for the goal. Syracuse would regain the lead 3:06 into the third period, as Ethan Gauthier deflected home Tommy Miller’s shot from the point. Once again the Monsters fought back, tying the game with under 12 minutes to play on Richard’s second of the night.
