Fantastic images from Kentucky Oaks day at Churchill Downs
There were more than 103,000 on hand Friday to watch the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs.
It is the annual filly prelude to the Kentucky Derby. On the first Friday in May, Always A Runner won the Kentucky Oaks for 3-year-old fillies in front of 103,920 at Churchill Downs. The Chad Brown-trainee was ridden to victory by Jose Ortiz, who had five winners on the 13-race card.
The weather may be a factor on Saturday when the Kentucky Derby is run but not because of rain. Temperatures are expected to be in the 50s, making this potentially the coolest Run for the Roses in 30 years.
