Cowboys' Seventh Round Selection Oddly Named Questionable Pick

The Cowboys took receiver Anthony Smith in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, but it appears that move is a questionable one by the franchise.

The NFL Draft has come and gone, and now we are in the part of the offseason when draft classes are graded; for the Dallas Cowboys, most agree they hit it out of the park. Granted, that is largely due to what transpired in the first round with Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence being selected. But what about those in the later rounds, say East Carolina receiver Anthony Smith?

Most draft selections from the fifth-round onwards are seen as dart throws by teams, in the sense of, maybe that player will develop into something, maybe they won't. But still, players at the end of the draft face an uphill battle just to make the roster, and in some instances, last until training camp, so grading them is a little bit of an odd thing, at least for me. Wait until you see what they can do. For CBS Sports' Josh Edwards, he's named every team's most questionable pick, and for Dallas, he's named Smith, a seventh-rounder.

"The board fell into place well, however, and the franchise was able to address critical defensive needs," Edwards wrote . "Little concern could be raised with the team's choices, but Smith may be the person least favorite of the group, despite some late buzz in the process.
