Students will now sit behind both baskets at Assembly Hall, north and south, rather than just the latter.

That’s set to change as Indiana is making the move to place students in the bleachers behind both baskets ahead of the 2026-27 season, according to an official release from Indiana Athletics.
“We are excited to continue making Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall the toughest road environment in all of college basketball,” head coach Darian DeVries said in the release. “We appreciate all the support we have received from Hoosier Nation and look forward to seeing you all this season. ” The change will help maximize the effect students, who bring the most overall energy and crowd noise, have on games, especially when baskets shift from half to half.
With the largest student section in the sport and a loyal fanbase on campus, it’s a welcome move to reward that yearslong loyalty to the program.
