Per Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg , the club wants a one-year extension just as Neuer does and initial talks over the new deal have already taken place, though nothing is 100% concrete yet.
Neuer’s agent, Thomas Kroth was at Säbener Straße on Thursday, confirming reports that an extension has been discussed despite nothing being absolutely finalized as of yet. Sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed the desire for and initial discussions Neuer’s proposed extension the press conference ahead of Bayern’s Bundesliga clash vs. Heidenheim that comes before the crucial Champions League semifinals second leg vs.
Paris Saint-Germain. “We are speaking with Manuel, his entourage and his agent. There are good talks, but nothing further to announce yet.
It will not drag on endlessly,” Freund confirmed. While nothing is done yet, this brings some closure to what was an ongoing question for the better part of the past coupe of months — will Neuer leave for free this summer, or stay for another year? The veteran keeper was originally slated to make a decision by his 40th birthday last month but decided to take more time to make a final decision to really weigh all of the factors.
