Falcons land Texas OT Trevor Goosby in 2027 NFL mock draft from PFF

The Atlanta Falcons have spent years assembling one of the better offensive lines in all of football, but things change quickly in the NFL. Starting right tackle Kaleb McGary, a former first-round pick, surprised those around the league by retiring before the 2026 NFL Draft last month. Fortunately, the Falcons were able to sign former Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor to a one-year deal hours after McGary's retirement.

The team was lucky to find an adequate replacement on such short notice, but this should serve as a reminder for Atlanta to start preparing for the future. Since Jake Matthews is getting up there in age, and Taylor is only under contract through 2026, NFL analysts have already started linking the Falcons to offensive tackle prospects in next year's draft. Pro Football Focus released a new 2027 NFL mock draft, which has the Falcons taking Texas offensive tackle Trevor Goosby with the 10th overall pick.

"Left tackle Jake Matthews will be 35 next offseason, while right tackle Jawaan Taylor will be an unrestricted free agent," wrote PFF's Daire Carragher . "There are several options for the first tackle off the board, but Goosby stands out after looking NFL-ready in his first season as a starter. He posted PFF grades above 80.

0 in both pass protection and run blocking after taking over for Kelvin Banks Jr. " The Falcons have done a good job of building one of the better offensive lines in the league, but all good things require maintenance. Perhaps another first-round tackle could help Atlanta solidify the line for another decade.
