The Boston Red Sox made a notable roster move involving the pitching staff before Friday's game against the Houston Astros . According to Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors , the Red Sox have promoted left-hander Jake Bennett from Triple-A Worcester to make his first start in the Majors. Bennett takes Nate Eaton's spot on the roster after the utilityman was optioned after yesterday's game.

Bennett, 25, is ranked as Boston's No. 6 prospect on MLB Pipeline and posted a 0. 86 ERA with just 12 hits allowed in five starts at Triple-A.

The 6-foot-6 University of Oklahoma product was acquired from the Washington Nationals in December. "Bennett has tremendous feel for his mid-80s changeup, a plus offering with significant fade that he can use to get chases or in-zone misses," Bennett's MLB Pipeline bio reads. "He sets it up with two- and four-seam fastballs that sit at 92-94 mph, reach 96, and play up a bit because of his ability to command them, though they don't stand out with their life.
