Former Steelers WR Chase Claypool attempting comeback with Packers
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool hasn't played since 2023 but is planning on a comeback.
After announcing in July of 2025 that he was retiring, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool is planning a comeback one year later. According to reports, Claypool will attend the Green Bay Packers minicamp to try and see if he can earn a spot on their training camp roster. Claypool's entire career can be characterized as unrealized potential.
After being selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft and he came out of the gates like he was going to be a star. Claypool finished his rookie season with 62 receptions for 873 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. Claypool also rushed for two more touchdowns.
In his second season, Claypool was once again strong with 59 receptions for 860 receiving yards. After this, however, things started going wrong for Claypool. He was traded to the Chicago Bears at the trade deadline and most considered the deal for a second-round pick a win for Pittsburgh.
Claypool never found a spot with the Bears and he was traded to the Miami Dolphins for a seventh-round pick in 2023. Things didn't improve for Claypool and after one year went to the Buffalo Bills and ended up on IR. š NEWS The #Packers will have former #Steelers and #Bears WR Chase Claypool at their rookie minicamp for a tryout (via @MySportsUpdate ) #NFL Should Green Bay give Claypool another shot?
