Former New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson has been in talks with CBS as he contemplates retirement from football.

The 2026 NFL draft is over. The free agency frenzy has slowed to a drip. Undrafted rookie free agents have been swooped up.

For players at the start of their career, this signifies the start of the next season. For players nearing the end of their career, this signifies the time when they might start contemplating retirement. Such is the case for former New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson.

After spending 10 years with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson spent two seasons with the Denver Broncos and one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Giants in 2025. He was never able to recreate what he did in Seattle, and now the 37-year-old free agent is considering hanging up his cleats. Wilson has worked with CBS a few times over the last several years, including making an appearance during the Giants' bye week in 2025.

The Athletic reports that The NFL Today , CBS's Sunday pregame show, is the favorite landing spot, and the two sides have had lengthy discussions.
