The FSU Seminoles have been recruiting Wondermonds for years, but the four-star quarterback has committed to Notre Dame.

The Florida State Seminoles have missed on their top quarterback target. Four-star quarterback Wonderful 'Champ' Monds IV committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday, picking them over the Seminoles and Ohio State Buckeyes , who already have a quarterback committed in their 2027 recruiting class. He announced the news live on The Pat McAfee Show.

While it was expected, it is still a major blow to FSU's recruiting class, which currently has just six commits . The Seminoles have been recruiting Monds since June 12, 2024, when they offered him a scholarship as a freshman. They were the first major school to offer him, with Notre Dame not extending him one until Jan.

19, 2026. He visited FSU multiple times during his recruitment, but it was not enough, as the Fighting Irish surged ahead when they hosted him on April 18, his first visit to Notre Dame's campus. The Seminoles also signed two of his high school teammates last year.

Monds is ranked as the No. 264 overall player and No. 20 quarterback in the 247Sports composite.
