Connor McDavid is the best hockey player on the planet but has yet to win a Cup. Sure sounds like a match, doesn't it? The Edmonton Oilers aren't yet shopping McDavid, but they're heading toward the window of time when they might at least consider it.

He has two seasons left on his contract, so if the Oilers want to maximize value, a deal would happen this summer or before next season's trade deadline. The Oilers were knocked out Thursday night by the Ducks, raising all sorts of ideas about what might be next for McDavid.

Bleacher Report's Lyle Fitzsimmons broke a lot of the options down in a new article on Friday, and one of the possibilities brought up is the Canadiens. "For sheer entertainment value, here's your winner," Fitzsimmons writes. "The Canadiens are the New York Yankees of the NHL when it comes to tradition, and, though they haven't won a Cup since 1993, it's not hard to envision that drought ending in the near, rather than long-term, future.
