Kansas basketball has added another player who’ll be a freshman for the upcoming season. Here’s more on the signing of big-man Grant Mordini.
LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball has added yet another player who’ll be a freshman for the upcoming season, in Grant Mordini. KU announced Mordini’s signing on Friday. He’s listed at 6-foot-11 and 210 pounds, and most recently played at Avon Old Farms School — a preparatory institution in Connecticut.
And he’s from Illinois. RELATED: What’s Tyran Stokes’ goal with Kansas basketball? A national title “We’re excited about Grant coming to Kansas,” KU coach Bill Self said in a release.
“At 6-foot-11, he will add depth at the center position and be a guy that makes us better every day in practice. He’s been well drilled and well coached at Lake Forest and Avon, and we look forward to having him be a part of our program. ” Mordini joins a freshman class that includes a pair of McDonald’s All-Americans in Tyran Stokes and Taylen Kinney, among others.
The Jayhawks have also secured commitments from three players through the transfer portal. More work will need to be done to make Kansas a team that can contend for Big 12 Conference and national success, but progress is being made. Kansas is coming off a season in which it reached the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament and the round of 32 of the NCAA tournament.
