Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders is catching blowback heat for his son Shilo’s recent “Go Make a Sandwich” comment to Cleveland Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot, who caught the remark from the ex-Buffs safety for saying Deshaun Watson should start over his brother Shedeur at quarterback for the Browns.
USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer framed the story in a way that makes Coach Prime’s parenting and coaching sound ineffective, saying, “Colorado football coach Deion Sanders previously has told his players to respect women and to address them as ‘miss’ instead of their first names. But his middle son Shilo Sanders didn’t exactly heed that advice on social media April 29, sparking a response from the female reporter whom he chided online, followed by Shilo saying the reporter had ‘so much emotion. ’” Schrotenboer was clearly defensive of his media counterpart, Cabot, throughout his piece, but there are legitimate questions about Shilo’s behavior and whether an NFL team will ever employ him after this snafu.
He hasn’t held a job in pro football since being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the 2025 season. Burning bridges with the media, while making his brother look bad, doesn’t bode well for his image. Has it already affected his father, Deion, and the Colorado football program he's trying to rebuild into a winner in Shilo, Shedeur, and Travis Hunter's absence?
The jury is out. Has Deion Sanders responded to Shilo’s ‘Go Make a Sandwich’ comments? Coach Prime hasn’t commented on Shilo’s comments on Cabot.
