Where Wisconsin basketball ranks in way-too-early 2027 bracketology

On3/Rivals James Fletcher III put together a way-too-early men's basketball bracketology for 2027 that includes Wisconsin.

After news broke that the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments would be expanding, Wisconsin learned it would now have to be one of the top 76 teams in the nation. Seeing as their men's team hasn't had an issue making the tournament under Greg Gard , this isn't something the Badgers' longtime head coach is worried about. It'll definitely help the women, a squad led by Robin Pingeton, who took them deep into the WBIT after losing 10 straight to end the regular season.

While it seems like the 2025-26 season just came to an end, On3/Rivals put together a " way-too-early " projection for the men's tournament now that it's set to include a record high 76 teams. James Fletcher III believes Wisconsin will be in the "last four byes" category alongside Kentucky, West Virginia, and St. Louis.

Gard had his work cut out for him, replacing both Nick Boyd and John Blackwell, but to no surprise his 2026-27 lineup has come together quite nicely. In this projection, Wisconsin earns the No. 9 seed in the South region.

Should they defeat No. 8 BYU in the first round, the Badgers would likely play No. 1 UConn to round out the first weekend.
