PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Tyler Ryder picked a great time to score his first goal of the postseason. Ryder scored 1:28 into overtime to give the Rivermen a 2-1 win over Evansville in game one of the President’s Cup at Carver Arena on Thursday.

Game two of the series is Friday night at 7:15 p. m. at Carver Arena.

Ryder skated in from the left and slipped the puck through some traffic in front of the net and past Evansville goalie Kristian Stead. The Rivermen, who were the top team in the SPHL regular season, are seeking their third title in five years. Peoria out shot defending league champ Evansville, 33-20, and held the Thunderbolts to just 10 shots in the first 40 minutes of the game.
