Caitlin Clark's 2025 WNBA season was plagued with injuries and the Indiana Fever star ended up sitting out the year due to an injury in July. Unfortunately for Fever fans, Clark's start to the 2026 preseason is all too familiar after an unfortunate sequence of events on Thursday night. During the Fever's preseason matchup against the Dallas Wings on Thursday night, Clark was removed from the game due to an apparent ankle injury in the third quarter.
While Clark was attempting a three-pointer, she landed on the foot of Wings player Alanna Smith and seemingly twisted her ankle. Clark tried to walk off the injury and even made two of three free throws after Smith was awarded a flagrant foul, but the Fever star then exited the game after. According to The Athletic , Clark did not head to the locker room after leaving the game, but she was examined by trainers while on the bench.
