Vanderbilt baseball pulled off the hidden ball trick against Alabama in an SEC series as Brodie Johnston and Connor Fennell tricked a baserunner.

Brodie Johnston, the third baseman for Vanderbilt baseball , used the hidden ball trick to steal an out for the Commodores during their series opener against Alabama on April 30 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The play occurred in the bottom of the fifth inning with runners on first and third and no outs. Pitcher Connor Fennell bent down to pick up the rosin bag behind the mound, but Johnston still had the ball after a single hit by Jason Torres that advanced John Lemm to third base.

Lemm strayed off the third-base bag and Johnston tagged him out. Big first out with the ole hidden ball trick! ๐Ÿ“บ ESPN2 pic.
