Texas A&M staffer departs for assistant coaching role at Cal Baptist

Yahoo Sports

Texas A&M operations staffer Shane Sinon has joined Cal Baptist as an assistant coach, leaving an opening on Bucky McMillan’s support staff.

Texas A&M men’s basketball is finalizing its 2026–27 roster, and while plenty of new faces will be joining the program on the court, there’s also a notable change happening behind the scenes. One of the staffers who helped keep the Aggies’ day‑to‑day operations running smoothly is officially moving on. Though Texas A&M has not released an announcement, former Assistant Director of Operations Shane Sinon is now listed as an assistant basketball coach at Cal Baptist.

Sinon, who was retained by head coach Bucky McMillan last season, previously served as Buzz Williams’ day‑to‑day assistant, handling travel logistics, inventory management, and other operational needs during his earlier years with the program. This past season, Sinon worked under Director of Operations Warren Fitzpatrick, contributing to key areas such as recruiting coordination, financial processes, and media‑related operations. His move to the West Coast marks a significant step forward in his career, transitioning from internal operations to an on‑court coaching role.

With Sinon’s departure, McMillan now has an opening to fill within his support staff. Given the program’s emphasis on structure, organization, and continuity, the expectation is that the Aggies will target a strong, detail‑oriented replacement who can seamlessly step into the role and maintain the program’s operational momentum.
