Jordan Spieth shot his lowest round of the season, a 7-under 65, at Trump National Doral, hinting at a return to form.

DORAL, Fla. โ€“ Ten years ago, when the PGA Tour last held a tournament at Trump National Doral, Jordan Spieth was ranked No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking .

Ten years later, Spieth drew headlines for moving back into the top 50 for the first time in more than a year, which is telling of where his game has been the last few years. Entering this week, itโ€™s been 329 days since Spieth has recorded a top-10 finish (T-7 2025 Memorial), a span of 15 starts that is tied for his second-longest stretch in his career. But on Thursday at Donaldโ€™s Place, Spieth was a world-beater again.

Perhaps it was the return to the Blue Monster that provided Spieth a hot-tub time machine moment as he made seven birdies and an eagle to shoot 7-under 65, his lowest round of the season and lowest opening-round to par on the PGA Tour since 2023. [He shot 65 in the first round of the 2025 Wyndham Championship, too, on what is a par-70 layout. ] โ€œItโ€™s almost there,โ€ Spieth said of the state of his game.
