Celtics Derrick White looking to be more aggressive to break slump

Boston Celtics guard Derrick White opened up on his shooting slump and woes, looking to be more aggressive starting in Game 6 on Thursday night.

The Boston Celtics head into Philadelphia on Thursday night with the potential to close out their first round series against the Sixers in Game 6, but needing their supporting cast to deliver. For Boston, the biggest key they need is for guard Derrick White to get back on track in this series, as he is averaging just 8 points in the first round. White's struggles are not just in the amount of points he's scoring, but more the fact that he is shooting under 30% from the field, and just 21% from 3-point range.

Before Thursday night's game, White met with the media at shootaround and discussed the current slumps he's under, recognizing that slumps happen, but he will plan to be more aggressive. "I think a little bit of everything," White said when discussing the factors playing into his struggles this series. "Sometimes it happens throughout the course of a game or the course of a series, I just got to try a be a little bit more aggressive.

I think I can do that and then just take what the game gives and go from there. " With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way as top contributors for the Celtics offense in this series, they'd get a big boost if White is able to break out of his slump. White is important to the Celtics on both ends of the court, and if he can get back to his regular sense of production, Boston would benefit tremendously in their efforts to close out the Sixers on Thursday night, and through the remainder of the playoffs.
