LOCAL ROUNDUP: Danville baseball sweeps Urbana in doubleheader

DANVILLE — After rain ruined the start of the week, the Danville baseball team returned to action on Wednesday against Urbana at Danville Stadium. In the first game, Alex McQuown gave up only four hits as the Vikings shut out the Tigers 4-0. Marvin Davis and Shaw Black each had an RBI, while Jaiven Wilson had two hits.

The second game of the doubleheader was tied at 6-6 in the seventh before Blake Warfield singled to bring in the winning run in a 7-6 victory. Wilson had two hits and two RBIs, while Grady DeVors had three hits and Davis, Brody Boyd and Warfield each had an RBI. Boyd goit the win in relief while DeVors had seven strikeouts as the starter.

The Vikings are 6-13 and will play Peoria Notre Dame on Friday. Westville 7, Milford 6 WESTVILLE — Christian Giles drove in the winning run in the ninth as the Tigers beat the Bearcats. Matthew Darling had three hits with a home run and four RBIs for Westville, while Ben Johnson had three hits and an RBI, Giles had two hits and an RBI and Kiptyn Appl had one RBI.

The Tigers are 12-11 and will travel to Salt Fork on Friday. Salt Fork 12, Cissna Park 2 CATLIN — The Storm had nine hits as they made quick work of the Timberwolves in five innings. Zayden Bromley had three RBIs for Salt Fork, while Braxton Clem and Jacob Downing each had two RBIs, Brayden Norton, Pedro Rangel V and Bodie Dahlenburg each had one RBI and Eli Wear had three hits.

Clem had nine strikeouts and only gave up four hits for the Storm, who are 9-6. Geo-RF 12, Blue Ridge 3 FARMER CITY — The Buffaloes had 12 hits as they were able to win on the road against Blue Ridge. Ryley Heck had two hits and three RBIs for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, while Peyton Miles had two hits with a home run and two RBIs, Dylan Lucas had three hits and an RBI and Landon Heck had two hits with a home run and an RBI.
