A Georgia Bulldog defensive back is getting a shot at the NFL after not getting drafted. Former Georgia strong safety JaCorey Thomas has accepted a minicamp invitation with the Carolina Panthers , according to Justin Melo of NFL Draft on SI . Thomas could reunite with teammate Monroe Freeling , who was drafted No.
19 by the Panthers. Carolina also has former Georgia running back Trevor Etienne . The 6-foot, 205-pound safety made a great pair with KJ Bolden this past season.
In 2025, he racked up 45 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a nine-yard sack against Alabama in the 2025 SEC championship. Overall, Thomas earned 63 tackles, a TFL, a sack, and two pass break-ups through 47 games at UGA. He helped the Georgia Bulldogs win the 2022 national championship, earning a tackle in the game.
He wasn't the only Georgia defensive back who entered the 2026 NFL draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected former Georgia cornerback Daylen Everette in the third round. Thomas will look to make a dent in the Panthers' secondary.
