Baltimore Ravens Sign Another All-Pro Pass Rusher
Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has been busy acquiring star pass rushers this offseason. Before free agency even started, he agreed to send the Ravens’ first-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for Maxx Crosby. While that deal fell apart after the Ravens didn’t like Crosby’s medicals, that didn’t prevent the Ravens from boosting their pass rush.
Once free agency got underway, the Ravens struck quickly, signing All-Pro edge rusher Trey Hendrickson away from the Cincinnati Bengals , their AFC North rivals, to a four-year, $112 million contract. Even in the NFL Draft, the Ravens added Missouri edge rusher Zion Young in the second round with the 45th overall pick. Yet, DeCosta wasn’t done boosting Baltimore’s pass rush.
Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images On Thursday, ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens have signed 39-year-old pass rusher Calais Campbell to a one-year contract. Campbell may be entering his 19th season, but the one-time All-Pro still managed to record 6.
5 sacks with the Arizona Cardinals last season. He’s racked up a total of 117 sacks in his career, which has included six Pro Bowl appearances, including with the Ravens in 2022. The 50th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft has carved out an incredible career considering his original draft position.
Now he’ll add valuable experience to first-year head coach Jesse Minter’s locker room and help impart his wisdom to players like the recently drafted Zion Young.
