The Pittsburgh Steelers have another form of hope for the future at quarterback after the 2026 NFL Draft, when the team selected Drew Allar in the third round. Allar now joins a quarterbacks room that includes another form of hope, 2025 draft pick Will Howard, as well as career backup Mason Rudolph. And, that group may also see Aaron Rodgers join it shortly, although the Steelers are still waiting on his decision .

The simple fact that the Steelers are depending on a 42-year-old quarterback to start in 2026 tells you why this franchise needs a long-term solution. But, while some see hope with Allar, Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t. “He never jumped off the page to me,” Big Ben said on the Footbahlin with Ben Roetlisberger podcast.
