After struggling to break through in the first game of the series, the bats came alive in the second game for the Colorado Rockies as they defeated the Cincinnati Reds 13-2 on Wednesday.

Now, with the series split, the Rockies aim for their second straight series win to close out the road trip. Michael Lorenzen (2-2, 5. 97 ERA) takes the mound against his former team for the Rockies.

Lorenzen has been a bit of a mixed bag through his first six starts, but has now strung together two solid outings. His last start was his best of the season thus far as he allowed just one run on seven hits over seven innings against the New York Mets. Lorenzen is at his best when getting ground balls, which was quite evident in that start as he induced 10 groundouts against five flyouts.

He is quite familiar with Great American Ballpark, having made 147 appearances there, sporting a 3. 90 ERA over 258. 1 innings.
