The Giants will be a man short in their receiver room when they kick off their offseason program. Darius Slayton recently underwent surgery on a core muscle injury and he will miss the spring as he continues recovering, according to multiple reports. Slayton is expected to be back in the mix as a full-go when training camp rolls around.

New York will also be going through the beginning of the offseason program without Malik Nabers as he continues his long journey back from a torn ACL. With the top targets down, it'll give Jaxson Dart a chance to build chemistry with his new weapons such as Malachi Fields , a third-rounder who an offensive coach told SNY's Connor Hughes could take reps from Slayton this season. The team traded up to select Fields, whom they felt had second-round value.

Slayton is coming off a season in which he reeled in just 37 receptions for 538 yards and a touchdown. The rest of the receiver room includes Darnell Mooney , Calvin Austin , Jalin Hyatt , Gunner Olszewski , and Isaiah Hodgins . Big Blue also hosted Odell Beckham Jr.

for a visit ahead of the draft, and the two sides have remained connected on a potential reunion.
