Three Golden Eagles Earn All-Big East Honors In Men’s Lacrosse
Nolan Rappis, Carsen Brandt, and Peter Detwiler were honored by the coaches for their play this season.
Nolan Rappis finishes off his Marquette career as a unanimous pick for the All-Big East First Team. | Credit: Marquette University The Big East announced the results of the end of season polling in men’s lacrosse on Wednesday , right before the conference tournament gets started on Thursday in Rhode Island. With Marquette finishing 6-7 on the year and missing the Big East tournament by way of a tiebreaker at 2-3, it’s not surprising that the Golden Eagles aren’t highly decorated this season, but they didn’t get shutout, either.

Marquette’s third honoree is team captain Peter Detwiler, who landed a spot on the Second Team as a short stick defensive midfielder.
There’s no SSDM on the first team — there are two long stick mids, for whatever reason — so I think that makes Detwiler the best SSDM in the Big East even if he’s not a First Teamer. The Big East press release only focuses on the highlight individual trophies — no shade, they’ve got a lot to talk about there — so let’s go to the Marquette press release on the accomplishments of these three guys. First Rappis, who wasn’t sure if he was going to return for his final season of eligibility a year ago at this time : Rappis led Marquette’s offense, appearing in all 13 games and pacing the team with 31 goals while ranking second with 47 points.
The Delafield, Wisconsin, native recorded six games with five or more points, including a seven-point performance at Bellarmine and a six-point outing at Cleveland State. He also posted five points in three of Marquette’s five BIG EAST contests. Rappis ranked second in goals during conference play with 16 and tied for third in points with 21 over five league games.
