But that great sports city is having a relatively tough go of it in recent years for the Pittsburgh Penguins , Steelers and Pirates. That continued on Wednesday night when the Penguins were eliminated in the first round of the NHL playoffs by the in-state rival Philadelphia Flyers . The Penguins haven't won a playoff series since 2018.
Amazingly, that's the most recent Pittsburgh playoff advancement. The Steelers haven't won a playoff game since 2016 in the NFL. In MLB, the Pirates last advanced in the playoffs in 2013, and that was simply the Wild Card Game.
