The Englishman finished two shots behind the Northern Irishman, having lost to him in a playoff at the major championship in 2025. It represented another agonizing near miss for Rose , who claimed his only major championship win at the US Open in 2013. Despite the constant heartache, he would prefer to get over the line at another tournament other than The Masters before he retires from golf.
Justin Rose wants to win The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Rose told Golf Digest : “I’d love to win another major. “If I could be super greedy, I would probably go so far as to say The Open at Royal Birkdale. “I just think the kid that chipped in all those years ago – to get it done at this stage in my career?
“That would be probably the best story you could hand me. ” The Open Championship takes place this summer at Royal Birkdale, where Rose finished in a tie for fourth on his tournament debut in 1998. Aged just 17, he memorably holed out from 50 yards on the 18th to claim the highest finish by a British amateur since Roger Wethered lost a play-off in 1921.
