Overton softball holds on for hard-fought 4-3 area-round win over Como-Pickton
FRUITVALE, Texas (KETK) — Overton softball held off Como-Pickton 4-3 to take game one of the two teams’ best-of-three 2A-D2 area round series on Wednesday night in Fruitvale. The Lady Mustangs took a 4-2 lead on Kasha Williams’ two-RBI double in the top of the fifth but Como-Pickton cut it to a 4-3 game on Sarah Corley’s RBI double in the bottom of the seventh. With Corley on third and the Lady Eagles down to their final out, Como-Pickton’s Presley Hunt grounded out to Overton second baseman Brylee Finley to end the game.
Overton took a 1-0 series lead with Wednesday night’s victory, and game two is set for Thursday, April 30 at 6 p. m. CT back in Fruitvale.
