After going a few days without a commitment, head coach James Franklin landed another one on Wednesday, as three-star running back Stanley Smart became the latest 2027 pledge. Smart is a 5-foot-10, 200-pound prospect from Savannah, Georgia, who plays at Benedictine Military School. Smart is the eighth player to commit to Virginia Tech’s 2027 class, and is the second running back, following Kelvin Morrison (Hermitage, Pa.
), who committed last week. 1000% COMMITTED!! THIS IS HOME!

(3⭐️) (@yvngstanley) April 29, 2026 Smart picked the Hokies over offers from Auburn, Texas Tech, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kansas State, Duke and others. His longstanding relationship with new running backs coach Norval McKenzie played a big part in his decision. McKenzie offered Smart well over a year ago, while he was the running backs coach at Georgia Tech.
