The legendary Allyson Felix, for whom the track field on USC’s campus is named, is attempting a comeback for the LA 2028 Olympics

Allyson Felix is one of the most decorated athletes in Olympic history. In 2021, the USC alum became the first American to ever win 11 medals —seven of which are gold—in track and field. In 2022, Felix announced her retirement from the sport.

This week, however, she revealed that she will be attempting a comeback for the LA 2028 Olympics in order to compete in her home city of Los Angeles. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime homecoming,” Felix told TIME . “And it is the only thing powerful enough to pull me back.

” Felix graduated from USC in 2008. She never actually compete for the Trojans, though, instead pursuing her college degree while competing professionally. In 2023, USC named the track field on its campus after her.

Felix will be 42 years old in the summer of 2028. If she is able to come back and add another medal to her collection, it would be yet another remarkable accomplishment for one of the greatest athletes of all time.
