Duke, UConn set for rematch of Elite Eight thriller

โ€ขYahoo Sports

Duke and UConn will face off on Thanksgiving Eve in a rematch of the Huskies' last-second win over the Blue Devils in this year's Elite Eight.

It wonโ€™t have as much riding on the outcome, but it will be fun nonetheless when Duke and UConn meet in college basketball next season. A rematch of the Elite Eight thriller, won by the Huskies on a deep three-pointer by Braylon Mullins after a turnover by Cayden Boozer, is set for Thanksgiving Eve inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. From SIโ€™s College Basketball HQ : According to sources, the game has been in the works months prior to the epic Elite 8 matchup between the two teams which saw the Huskies stun the Blue Devils on Braylon Mullinsโ€™ 3-point heave in the final seconds to advance to the Final Four.

The game is expected to directly rival the Players Era Festival, which takes place the week of Thanksgiving in Vegas. This will be the third installment of Players Era although the format is expected to be quite different this season with the field expanding to 32 teams. No schedule, bracket, or format has been announced yet from the event, but its championship game last season was held the night before Thanksgiving Day.

It will be a game full of storylines, including former Blue Devil Nikolas Khamenia now playing for UConn, Boozer looking for revenge against the Huskies and how star freshmen Cameron Williams and Bryson Howard perform early against top competition.
