Frank Lampard and Kieran McKenna on Crystal Palace shortlist to replace Oliver Glasner
Palace have six potential managers on the list to replace Glasner who will leave the club at the end of the season
Crystal Palace have Coventry City ’s Frank Lampard and Ipswich Town ’s Kieran McKenna on a list of at least six managers to replace Oliver Glasner , having already started making overtures to candidates. Andoni Iraola is currently exploring other options, including Chelsea, having previously been open to the idea. That interest actually stretches back to January, when it was announced that Glasner will be leaving at the end of the season.
Palace are intrigued by the idea of Lampard, who has earned a new respect in football for his work with Coventry City. Although it seems unlikely that the Chelsea legend would want to leave the Championship winners amid such a romantic story, Palace are said to be one of a few clubs who feel they can test that. Fulham would also make a move if Marco Silva were to leave.
It is understood that Coventry would be due compensation of around £5m if Lampard were go, but there is currently no anticipation of that. McKenna offers a more intriguing case given that he has been on the brink of leaving Ipswich Town in the past, but the compensation due the club would be even higher, at around £8m. The attractiveness of the Palace job could also change depending on how Glasner finishes this season, as a Europa Conference victory would also bring Europa League qualification and a higher budget.
